Beavers fall to Siena Heights 67-61 in overtime

The Bluffton University women's basketball traveled to Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan on Saturday, December 10, 2005 and fell to the Saints in overtime by a final score of 67-61. Bluffton outshot Siena Heights 47 percent (24-51) to 32 percent (24-76) but the Beavers were unable to overcome their 32 turnovers in the loss to the Saints. 

Bluffton trailed by 13 points early in the second stanza, but hot shooting catapulted the Beavers to a three point advantage with just over a minute to play in the contest. The Saints regained the lead by a point with 32 ticks left before a Bluffton free throw knotted the game at 61. LAURA PANOZZA'S last-second shot bounced out as time expired sending the Beavers to overtime. Bluffton was not able to use the reprieve as the Saints contolled the extra period 10-4 to improve to 2-8 on the season.

Sophomore guard AMANDA BELL (Napoleon/Liberty Center) led the Beavers with a career-high 18 points on 5-8 shooting and 8-11 at the charity stripe. Junior point guard TANYA RICKENBERG (Paulding/Paulding) chipped in with 12 points and a career-high 13 boards. Sophomore post LINDSAY BUSH (Howard/East Knox) rounded out the double digit scorers as she tallied 13 points and eight rebounds on 5-7 shooting. The Saints' LAURA PANOZZO took game high scoring honors with 20 points and she also brought down 11 rebounds.

Bluffton will return to action on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 when it travels to Thomas More College in Kentucky. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
