Ruffer named HCAC Player of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University sophomore BROOKE RUFFER(Stryker) was recently recognized as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her work in the final two regular season games.

Ruffer helped the Beavers secure the No. 4 seed in this week's HCAC tournament, posting back-to-back double-doubles during the week against HCAC-leading Transylvania and Earlham. Ruffer tallied 22 points with
10 rebounds in an 85-73 loss to Transylvania and added 18 points with 14 rebounds in an 86-77 win over Earlham. A two-sport standout, Ruffer hit 11-of-18 shots against the Pioneers and finished the week 16-of-29 from the field. For the week, Ruffer averaged 20.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 55.2 percent from the field. 

Bluffton (14-11, 10-8 HCAC) will open HCAC tournament play on Friday at 6 p.m. against Manchester in Lexington, Ky. It marks Bluffton's first trip to the HCAC tournament since 2008-09 and just the second since it went to a limited format in 2006-07!
