Beavers fall to Anderson and Franklin

October 15, 2001

The Bluffton College women's soccer team continues to show improved defense this season, and leading the way in that effort is freshman goalkeeper Rochelle Saccomen, who is closing in on the BC record for saves in a season.

Through matches played on October 15, Saccomen had collected 192 saves, which is just one save shy of the BC record of 193 set by Angie Kestler in 1993. Saccomen's 14.8 saves per game this season ranks first in the Heartland Conference.

Last week Bluffton held a talented Anderson University squad to just two goals in a 2-0 loss on Tuesday. On Saturday, Franklin College dealt the Beavers a 3-0 loss in Indiana.

Bluffton will host Manchester on Wednesday at 4:00 and will host The College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday at 1:00.
