Bluffton falls to Manchester in OT, 2-1

October 17, 2001

Bluffton College nearly pulled out their first win of the season Wednesday afternoon, but Manchester College came away with a 2-1 victory in overtime at the Emery Sears Athletic Complex.

Bluffton freshman goalkeeper Rochelle Saccomen (Ashland H.S.) set the BC single season save record in the game and now has 207 saves on the season. She broke the former record of 193 held by Angie Kestler in 1993.

After a scoreless first half, Manchester's Deanna Quinn put the Spartans on the board with an unassisted goal. Bluffton senior Katie Kantner (Bluffton H.S.) then scored her second goal of the season with just 2:25 left in the game off an assist from Kelly Dietrick (Bowling Green H.S.) to tie the game at 1-1, which is where it would stand going into the first overtime session.

Manchester's Colleen Kay scored the unassisted winning goal with 3:29 left in overtime to improve the Spartans' record to 3-10-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the HCAC. Bluffton falls to 0-13-1 overall and 0-6 in the HCAC.
