Beavers fall at Ursuline, 3-1

Sept. 19, 2006

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team traveled to face off against Ursuline College on Monday, September 18, 2006. The final 3-1 score in favor of the Arrows was not indicative of the effort put forth by the Beavers who fell to 0-6 on the season. With the victory, Ursuline improved to 4-3.

12 minutes into the contest, Julie Wyman put the Arrows on top when she pushed a cross from Molly McPherson into the back of the net.

CHANTEL MANGRUM (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian) knotted the contest midway through the first stanza before a questionable penalty against the Beavers allowed Ursuline to go up 2-1 thanks to a penalty kick with less than five minutes remaining in the first half.

Bluffton controlled the action throughout much of the second half before McPherson sealed the final outcome when she scored with seven minutes to play in the match.

MEGHAN FORQUER (North Canton/Green) led the Beavers with four shots on goal while ASHLEY BLOOM (Tiffin/Calvert) picked up three saves against the Arrows.

The Beavers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 23, when they host Marietta College. The contest is set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
