BLUFFTON, Ohio - A fast Rose-Hulman start was all it needed as the Beavers fell to the Engineers by a final score of 4-1 on Saturday, October 21, 2006. Three first half Rose goals dropped the Beavers to 2-13 and 1-6 in the HCAC while the Engineers improved to 10-3 and 4-2 in their first season as a member of the Heartland Conference.

The Engineers wasted no time finding the net as they took a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the contest when JULIE ROEBEL took a feed from SARAH GRABER.

Nine minutes later, Roebel returned the favor to MORGAN COAN, giving Rose a quick two-goal advantage and effectively taking the home crowd out of the contest.

When LIZ RIDGEWAY poked the Engineers' third goal of the game into the net off a touch from JENNIFER GORDON, the Beavers found themselves down, 3-0, less than halfway through the first stanza.

Following a first half in which the Engineers controlled the action from start to finish, Bluffton came out with a vengeance and trimmed the deficit to two goals with only three minutes elapsed in the second half. ALLISON WHITE (Lima/Shawnee) popped a shot over the goalkeeper's hand from the top of the box and it dropped just under the crossbar making the score 3-1 in favor of Rose-Hulman.

Bluffton continued to force the tempo and control the ball until MEGGY MCGAFFIGAN tacked on an Engineer goal with 12 minutes to play, giving Rose a 4-1 victory over the Beavers on a mild Saturday afternoon in Bluffton.

Rose took 12 shots in the contest compared to only two for the home team. Nine of those shots came in the first half which was dominated by the Engineers.

White and GINA ELSEA (Findlay/Findlay) fired the only two shots for the Beavers with White netting Bluffton's lone goal. ASHLEY BLOOM (Tiffin/Calvert) notched four saves in the loss.

The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, October 25, when they welcome Cincinnati Christian to Bluffton. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
