BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team dominated from start to finish in its 6-1 win over Cincinnati Christian University on Wednesday, October 25, 2006. With the victory, the Beavers improved to 3-13 while CCU fell to 6-5-1 on the season.
Early in the 19th minute, MEGHAN FORQUER (North Canton/Green) took a slick feed from JESSICA GOOD (Lima/Elida) and hit ANGIE VOISARD (Anna/Anna) who found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Although the Beavers continued to control the action, it wasn't until the 32nd minute when they put up their second score of the game when ROCHELLE STOLTZFUS (Bluffton/Bluffton) slid the ball to freshman SARAH HESS (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), playing in only her second game of the year due to an injury, who bumped the ball past the goalkeeper giving the Beavers a 2-0 lead.
Six minutes into the second stanza, ALLISON WHITE (Lima/Shawnee) gave the Beavers a three-goal advantage when she found an opening from the close right wing.
Less than five minutes after the White score, Meghan Forquer hit AMY DAHL(Perrysville/Loudonville) in the box and Dahl did the rest, giving Bluffton a comfortable 4-0 lead with 35 minutes to play in the contest.
With the ball bouncing in front of the goal following a CHANTEL MANGRUM (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian) corner kick, RACHEL DIONNE (Hillsboro, N.H/Hillsboro-Deering) gained enough control to tack on Bluffton's fifth goal of the contest in minute 58.
A short lapse in the 75th minute allowed CCU to get on the scoreboard when APRIL HERRdrove in from the close right wing and slid a shot past a diving ASHLEY BLOOM(Tiffin/Calvert) to cut the advantage to 5-1.
The Beavers were determined to seek retribution for the Cincinnati goal and ELYSE BURCKHART (Telford, Pa./Souderton) capitalized with less than three minutes to play, giving Bluffton a 6-1 victory over the visitors on a surprisingly mild Wednesday afternoon.
Bluffton outshot its counterparts from Cincinnati 21-4, including a 13-2 margin in shots on goal. The Beavers took 10 corner kicks while limiting CCU to only three for the game.
Six Beavers found the goal in the victory with Dionne, Dahl and Hess netting their first scores this year. Burckhart picked up her team-leading fifth goal which gave her 11 points for the year. Voisard led the Beavers with six shots, including three on target, while all of White's three shot attempts were on goal.
Bluffton will bring its regular season to a close on Saturday, October 28, when it travels to take on another school from Cincinnati, HCAC rival Mount St. Joseph, at 1 p.m.
