Bluffton picks up 2-0 win at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team traveled to Franklin College on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, and spoiled the Homecoming festivities for the Grizzlies with a dominating 2-0 performance. The win was the first Heartland Conference victory for the Beavers who improved to 2-7-1 overall while Franklin fell to 0-11-1 overall and 0-3 in the HCAC.

The Beavers fired 19 shots at the Franklin goalkeeper compared to one paltry attempt by the Grizzlies. Leading Bluffton with seven shots on target was freshman NICOLE FREY(Wauseon/Wauseon) who put the Beavers up 1-0 just over 11 minutes into the second period.

With less than two minutes on the clock, senior EVA VOTH (Bluffton/Bluffton) found freshman MARY CONRAD (Millersburg/West Holmes) for her first goal of the season and a 2-0 victory over the home team. .

ALLISON WHITE (Lima/Shawnee) rifled four shots while ELYSE BURCKHART (Tellford, Penn./Souderton) and MEGHAN FORQUER (North Canton/Green) chipped in with three attempts each.

The Grizzlies were whistled for eight fouls, compared to 10 against the Beavers. Bluffton controlled the action as the Beavers forced eight corner kicks and did not allow one in the contest.

Bluffton returns to the road on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, when it takes on Manchester College. The match is slated to start at 3:30 p.m. in North Manchester.
