Beavers suffer 5-0 setback at RHIT

October 20, 2007

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team (4-9-1, 1-5) struggled to find any offense against an outstanding Rose-Hulman squad that improved to 15-2 overall with a spotless 6-0 mark in Heartland Conference action following a 5-0 shutout of the Beavers.

SARAH GRABER put Rose up 1-0 in the second minute when she converted a feed from LIZ RIDGEWAY on a cross from the left to the middle of the field.

A three-goal outburst by JULIE ROEBEL during a seven-minute span late in the first half gave RHIT a 4-0 lead at the break.

The Engineers' ELISABETH BACA used JENNIFER GORDON'S third assist of the afternoon to make the final score 5-0 in favor of the home team with 24 minutes to play.

Rose ripped 25 shots in the match, including 15 on target while Bluffton notched only five attempts, three on frame. The Beavers allowed 10 corner kicks while forcing only one. Bluffton was whistled for 10 infractions, three more than their counterparts from RHIT.

MEGHAN FORQUER (North Canton/Green) put two shots on goal. Sophomore keeper SAMANTHA WILLIAMS (Toledo/Bowsher) picked up 10 saves in the loss to the Engineers.

The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 24, when they host Anderson University. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
