Beavers drop 1-0 decision at Cincinnati Christian

September 15, 2009

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team had a marked advantage in shots on frame, but Cincinnati Christian's score with just under 13 minutes to play was the difference as CCU scraped out a 1-0 victory on September 15, 2009. The Beavers now stand 3-2 on the season while CCU improved to 3-3-1.

Both teams struggled to put together any offense throughout much of the match as Bluffton took nine shots and the home team eight. The Beavers put seven on target, compared to just three for the Eagles. However, included in those three was a DESI MOUNT goal at the 77:04 mark.

Sophomore KATY WISBY (Lancaster/Bloom-Carroll) led the visitors with four shots, three on frame. Fellow sophomores KOURTNEY LEWIS (Arlington/Riverdale) and CATIE WHITE(Lima/Central Catholic) added two shots on goal apiece while senior MEGHAN FORQUER(North Canton/Green) chipped in with one attempt.

Freshman keeper MOLLY MARTIN (Brookville) finished with two saves in 90 minutes of action. CCU forced three corner kicks, one more than the Beavers and the home team committed one more infraction than Bluffton (9-8).

The Beavers return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they welcome Thiel College to Sears Field for the 2009 home opener. The contest is slated to start at 2 p.m.
