Bluffton drops 3-0 decision to Huntington

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University women's soccer team scored less than five minutes into the contest and walked away with a convincing 3-0 shutout of the Beavers on a rainy Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011. Bluffton slipped to 1-1 following the loss, while the Foresters (1-2) picked up their first victory of the season.

Sam Cubic netted the game-winner just 4:18 into the match, collecting a pass from Alex Shaffer and finding the back of the net. Brittany Hartman made it 2-0 at the 27:13 mark and Erin Barclay converted midway through period two for a 3-0 victory over the visitors.

Huntington blasted away for a 30-3 advantage in shots, including a decisive 12-1 mark on frame. The home team forced four more corner kicks (5-1) and committed five more fouls (9-4).

Sophomore keeper Maggie Armstrong (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland County) stayed busy, picking up nine saves in the 3-0 setback.

Bluffton returns to action with its home opener against Goshen College on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011. The contest is slated to start at 12 p.m.
