BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team scored two quick goals and never looked back as the Beavers walked away with a 4-0 shutout over Rochester College on Monday, October 10, 2011. Bluffton improved to 6-3-1 with its fifth shutout of the season. The Warriors slipped to 6-9 overall following the loss.

The Beavers started the scoring at the 6:54 mark with a shot that found its way inside the far post from the left side of the field by freshman Katie Reid (Midlothian, Va./Manchester). Less than three minutes later, Reid capitalized on a 30-yarder from the far left side again for a 2-0 lead before 10 minutes had elapsed. A talented Warriors squad did not cave, but the half ended with Bluffton maintaining its 2-0 edge.

Less than five minutes into the second half, junior Maddie Moore (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) followed up one of her own corner kicks and put the ball in the back of the net. Freshman TAYLOR FULTZ (Camden/Preble Shawnee) added a goal of her own 10 minutes later to make the final score 4-0.

Reid led the Beavers with three shots while teammates MEGAN DENOI (Bryan), Danielle McQuillin (Delta/Pike-Delta-York), ELIZABETH WEBB (Ashland), Moore, and KOURTNEY LEWIS (Arlington/Riverdale) each produced two shots for Bluffton in a balanced attack. Sophomore keeper MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland Co.) came up with three saves in the win.

The Beavers second straight 4-0 shutout was a total team victory in which 20 players saw action and the home team controlled the pace from start to finish against a squad that handed it a 1-0 setback a season ago.

Bluffton took 16 shots in the contest while Rochester tallied just four attempts. The Beavers forced five more corner kicks (6-1) and committed seven more fouls (13-6) than the Warriors.

The Beavers jump back into action on Wednesday, October 12, when they travel with the men for a doubleheader at Grace Bible College. The women's contest is slated for 4 p.m.
