Bluffton knocks off top-seed Earlham (NCAA release)

RICHMOND, Ind. -- No. 1 seed Earlham had its season come to an end on Wednesday in the opening round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

No. 4 seed Bluffton defeated the Quakers, 3-2 to advance to the conference championship.

The Beavers got a goal in the first half from Taylor Fultz at 24:19 to take a 1-0 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Fultz added another goal at 48:26 to make it 2-0.

Ikumi Doucette closed the gap for the Quakers with her first score of the contest at 59:27 with an assist from Paige Thomas.

Bluffton scored its final goal of the afternoon at 66:14 when Kourtney Lewis was able to get a shot over Earlham goalkeeper Kate Franks.

Doucette got the Quakers back to within a goal when she scored at 81:38. Annie Frodeman had an assist on the play. From that point the Quakers had two scoring opportunities, but both attempts were missed over the goal.

The Quakers had a 14-10 edge in shots and led 5-1 in corner kicks. Franks had three saves for the Quakers.
