Transylvania takes down Bluffton 3-1 in season finale

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team fell to Transylvania University on Saturday, Oct. 27, by a 3-1 count. The Beavers wrapped up their 2012 campaign at 3-12-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the Heartland Conference while Transylvania improved to 11-5-1 overall and 7-2 in the HCAC.

Transylvania came out ready to play against the Beavers, putting their first goal in the back of the net just three minutes into the match when Bluffton's attempt to clear found Transy wide open in the center of the box. The first tally came from ALYSSA KRUSE for her eight goal of the season.

Seven minutes later the Beavers scored their only goal of the match. Junior AIMEE WHITMER(Grand Rapids/Otsego) converted a header off a corner kick from senior MADDIE MOORE(Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams). Transylvania's second goal came at the 15:30 mark whenNATOSHA BODEN took a slick feed from Kruse.

The remainder of the first half and the first 44 minutes of the second period went by with both teams playing great defense. Transylvania's third goal came with 30 ticks remaining and was Kruse's ninth goal of the year and second of the match.

Transylvania outshot Bluffton, 10-7. The Pioneers also forced three more corner kicks (7-4). Bluffton was led by Whitmer who had two shots and a goal. Freshman LAURA FISH(Findlay/Liberty-Benton) and senior KIRSTEN EGTS (Rawson/Cory-Rawson) each contributed two shots to the Bluffton total while Moore added one.  

The Bluffton women's soccer season is now complete following the setback to Transylvania.
