BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team ended the home portion of their season with a tough 1-0 loss to the Mount St. Joseph University Lions on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014. The loss dropped Bluffton to 4-12-1 overall and 1-5-1 in HCAC play, while the Lions improved to 6-11 and 3-5 in the Heartland Conference.

The beginning of the first half was played mostly in the midfield, with both teams displaying stellar defense. The Lions were able to break through the defense once in the match, and that was in the 27th minute, as MACKENZIE MONEY centered it to OLIVIA WEBER, just in off the bench, who buried her second goal of the season. The Beavers continued to attack and had many chances to capitalize, but they were never able to find the back of the net as MSJ made the 1-0 score hold up.

The Lions outshot the Beavers, 20-16, including 8-5 on frame. The home team was led by freshman BRITTANY HUFF (Union/Northmont), who tallied six shots, and sophomore TERRILL WEBB (Kenton), who ended the contest with four. Bluffton freshman keeper KATIE NEELEY (Huber Heights/Wayne)made seven saves in a losing effort, while her counterpart from Mount St. Joseph, MICHELLE WESSLING, turned away five shots in the shutout victory.

The Beavers will finish up the 2014 soccer campaign as they make the long trip to Terre Haute, Ind. to take on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Fightin' Engineers. The contest is slated to start at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
