Bluffton drops 2-0 decision to rival Jackets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team welcomed rival Defiance College to the Sears Complex on a hot Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. Defiance netted two scores in the first 4:33 and held Bluffton off, picking up its first win of the season (1-9, 1-1 HCAC). The Beavers fell to 1-8-1 overall and 0-2 in the HCAC.

Whitney Webb set up Defiance's first score just over two minutes in and she found the back of the net two minutes later for the only offense in the match. 

Defiance finished with a 17-15 edge in shots, while both teams put nine attempts on frame. The Jackets doubled up Bluffton in fouls (8-4) and both teams forced seven corner kicks on a windy Wednesday. 

Senior Skylar Liming (St. Marys/Memorial) topped the Beavers with eight shots, including six on frame. Taylor Steinke (Findlay) chipped in with three shots. Fellow sophomore Jules Frazier (Nova/Mapleton) was busy with seven saves.

Bluffton is back on its home field Saturday, Oct. 6, when the Beavers welcome HCAC heavyweight Franklin College. The matchup is slated for 1 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers!
