WYOMING, Mich. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team hit the road for a matchup against Grace Christian University on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019. The Beavers secured a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. Bluffton improved to 3-4 on the season while Grace Christian fell to 4-4.

Bluffton got on the board first when Julia Gibson (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) received a nice feed from Bailee Kingsley (Austintown Fitch) and netted it to give the Beavers an early 1-0 lead. Grace Christian answered back with a goal of their own to tie the game 1-1 heading into the half. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead early in the second half but Taylor Steinke (Findlay) buried the equalizer with under two minutes in regulation to send the game into extra play. The visiting team secured the victory when Gibson connected yet again for her second tally of the match!

A hard-fought defensive battle kept the shot numbers low as Bluffton put up just two more than Grace Christian (16-14), with both teams placing nine on goal. Bluffton also forced two more corner kicks (3-1). Junior keeper Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) walked away with seven saves to secure her second victory guarding the net.

The women return to their home pitch on Sunday, Sept. 22, when they welcome Muskingum University to the Sears Athletic Complex. The match is slated for 1 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers!
