Newkirk named to HCAC SAAC Executive Board

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has named its Executive Board for the 2021-22 year.
 
For the second year in a row, Abigail Newkirk (New Vienna, Ohio) will serve as the NCAA Division III representative to the National SAAC. Newkirk has also been named the Special Olympics Subcommittee Head and Communications Director at the National Level. Newkirk is a 2021 graduate of Bluffton University and was a four-year member of the women's soccer team.
 
Joining the HCAC SAAC Executive board in their first term will be Brooklyn Brunner (Springboro, Ohio) from Mount St. Joseph University and Nate Hemmerich (Kokomo, Ind.) from Earlham College. Brunner is a junior at MSJ, and a member of the women's volleyball team. Hemmerich is also a junior, and a member of the Quaker baseball program.
 
The HCAC SAAC serves as the voice of student-athletes who represent the Conference's 10 member institutions. The mission of SAAC is to improve communication for all student-athletes at each member school as well as enhance communications between the institutions. SAAC takes an active role in understanding and providing feedback regarding NCAA and HCAC legislations, and promotes student-athlete well-being, academic achievement, personal development, and community service.
