Beavers move to 3-2-1 with win over Muskingum

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team scored with less than three minutes to play en route to a 2-1 victory over Muskingum on a hot Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024. Bluffton improved to 3-2-1 on the season, while the Fighting Muskies fell to 3-2 overall.

Sophomore Riley Eachus (Bluffton) took the feed from senior Brittney Ramirez (Archbold) and she cashed in with her first collegiate goal just over 15 minutes into the match. The Fighting Muskies responded at the 36:20 mark, making it 1-1 at the break following Amanda Craley's tally.

It looked like a tie was in the cards until Karley Ramirez (Archbold) got in on the assisting action, finding freshman Kate Stephens (Trenton/Edgewood) for the game winner with just over two minutes to play!

Bluffton fired away with 18 shots, compared to seven for the vistors. The Beavers also finished with an 11-4 advantage in shots on frame. The home team forced two more corner kicks (7-5) and it was whistled for three more fouls (8-5).

Eachus fired four shots, while Brysan Brewer (Middletown) and Mya Vernon (Toledo/Central Catholic) chipped in with three apiece. Senior keeper Brielle Collier (Anna) moved to 3-2-1 on the season after picking up three saves in her 90 minutes between the pipes.

The Beavers are on the turf Tuesday night when they welcome Heidelberg University for a 7 p.m. matchup at Alumni Field.
