BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Heidelberg University under the lights of Alumni Field on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024. Bluffton fell to 3-3-1, while the Student Princes imporved to 4-1-1.
Heidelberg forged a 9-2 advantage in shots during the first 45 minutes, but home team trailed just 1-0 following a Mallory Zavatchen tally late in the first half.
Ella Jacobs got through the Beaver defense twice in the second frame en route to a 3-0 victory for the Student Princes.
The visitors finished with a 19-8 edge in total shots, including 10-5 on frame. Heidelberg forced three of the five corner kicks and was whistled for two more fouls (4-2).
Sophomore Mya Vernon (Toledo/Central Catholic) and Reece Lawler (Vandalia/Butler) combined for half of Bluffton's eight shots on Tuesday night.
Heidelberg kept Brielle Collier (Anna) busy as the senior wrapped up seven saves in the night contest.
Bluffton caps off its non-conference slate with a trip to Ohio Christian on Saturday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
