Bluffton battles to 1-1 tie with Berea

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team trailed 1-0 at the half despite an 18-5 edge in shots during the first 45 minutes, but a Riley Eachus (Bluffton) tally less than three minutes into period two made the final score 1-1 on a beautiful Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024. The Beavers moved to 4-6-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the HCAC, while Berea stands 2-10-2 and 0-4-1 in Heartland Conference play.

Eachus took it down the right sideline and eased it past the Berea keeper at the 47:10 mark, giving the sophomore a team-best three goals on the season.

Bluffton finished with a marked 27-12 edge in total shots, including 16-4 on frame. The visitors were called for two more fouls (8-6), while the Beavers forced four of the five corner kicks Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Brielle Collier (Anna) came up with three saves for the home team.

Eachus led the offense with five shots, including four on frame. Kelsie Gladieux (Northwood/Lake), Brittney Ramirez (Archbold), Brysan Brewer (Middletown) and Katie Singleton (Hamilton/Badin) all fired away with three shots in the tie.

The Beavers travel to Anderson for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Ravens on Saturday, Oct. 19.
