ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team struck first, but Anderson answered back with five goals on the way to a 5-1 victory on a beautiful Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024. Bluffton slipped to 4-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the Heartland Conference, while the home team improved to 6-6-2 and 3-3 in the HCAC.
Freshman Brysan Brewer (Middletown) hit paydirt less than six minutes into the match as Bluffton went up 1-0 on the home Ravens. Six minutes later, Emily Wilusz netted the equalizer and then midway through the opening stanza, Anderson made it 2-1.
The Ravens put it away with three tallies in a span of 10 minutes as Anderson rolled to a 5-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
AU finished with a marked 22-8 advantage in total shots, including 13-5 on frame. Bluffton forced one more corner kick (5-4) and the Beavers were whistled for one more foul (4-3).
Brewer and Ella Argo (Ashland) led the way with two shots apiece. Senior Brielle Collier (Anna) was busy with eight saves at Anderson.
Bluffton travels to Mount St. Joseph for a 7 p.m. kickoff with the Lions on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.
