Transy opens HCAC play with 2-0 win over Beavers

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped its Heartland Conference lidlifter by a 2-0 count on Saturday, Sept. 27. Bluffton fell to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Pioneers improved to 1-6-2 on the season and 1-0 in the HCAC.

The visitors battled for 90 minutes but a late first-half tally and an early second-half goal powered the Pioneers to a 2--0 victory.

Sophomore Brysan Brewer (Middletown) finished with three of Bluffton's five shot attempts, including two of the three on frame. Freshman Madison Kutscher (Rossford) kept the Beavers within striking distance, turning away nine shots from the Pioneers.

Transylvania put together a 19-5 edge in total shots to go along with 13 of the 15 corner kicks on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers were also whistled for four more fouls (9-5).

Bluffton will tie a bow on its non-conference slate when Great Lakes Christian comes to town on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Kickoff for the Faculty Appreciation contest is slated for 7 p.m. on the Alumni Fied turf under the lights!
