Makayla Hurey, an Earlham alum, returns to the collegiate game to pursue her Master's in Business Administration and work with Head Coach Zack Hammon for the next two seasons as his graduate assistant.
Before coming to Bluffton, Hurey played goalkeeper for a key conference opponent, Earlham College. During her career, she earned HCAC-Academic honors three times. A three-time captain, Hurey was selected First Team All-HCAC in 2024 after securing honorable mention acclaim in 2023 and 2024. Hurey was also named HCAC Defender of the Week four times, once each in 2022 and 2023 and twice as a senior. Through her four seasons as a Quaker, Hurey recorded 326 saves and 16 shutouts while facing a total of 676 shots. Early in her final campaign at Earlham, she broke the program shutout record.
Hurey, who currently resides in Bluffton, attended Sidney High School, in Sidney, Ohio, where she played soccer and basketball. She earned all-conference honors and three varsity letters for soccer and four varsity letters for basketball.
