Baker claims three golds on Saturday

LIMA, Ohio - The Bluffton University Swimming and Diving program hosted for the third straight weekend to open the 2024-25 season. Heartland Conference rivals Hanover and Manchester both made the trip to Allen County on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Freshman Justin Hassranah (Cunupia, Trinidad and Tobago/Vishnu Boys Hindu College) and sophomore Grant Patton (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) both put up top 5 times in the Bluffton record book for the 100 yard backstroke, going 1:05.04 and 1:05.92, respectively. They finished third and fourth on Saturday. Hassranah took fourth with a 2:13.98 in the 200 yard freestyle which is third all-time for the Beavers.

Landon Gardner (Whitehall, Mich./Grand Haven) and Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) went 1:21.08 and 1:25.58, respectively, in the 100 yard breaststroke. Bruns also took sixth with a 25.85 in the 50 yard freestyle.

Freshman Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind.) had a banner day for the women, claiming three victories for the Beavers! She won the 200 yard IM (2:29.76), 100 yard freestyle (1:00.22) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:17.11). Her IM is 4th all-time for the Bluffton women.

Getting it done on the diving board was junior Sydney Grisier (Bryan) who won the 1 meter in both the five dives and the optional six dives.

Bluffton heads to Franklin for a matchup with the Grizzlies and Manchester on Saturday, Nov. 2.
