Three Volleyball players nominated for Verizon Academic All-American honors

Three volleyball players from Bluffton College have been nominated for the Verizon Academic All-America Team. Seniors Jaime Frisk, Erica Jellison and Mandy Pequignot represent BC on ballots being voted on by college sports information directors across the country.

Verizon sponsors Academic All-America Teams in just two fall sports, football and volleyball, and accepts nominations on behalf of athletes who have met high academic requirements along with being varsity contributors to their respective teams.

Senior Jaime Frisk carries a 3.26 GPA as an elementary education major from Wooster, Ohio. She is a four-year starter at BC and was among the league leaders in digs and aces each season. Currently, she leads the conference in digs per game (5.09) and has a 1,150 career digs. She tied a BC single match record with 8 aces as a junior against Denison and has 122 career aces to date. The year, she added a new dimension to her game ranking third on the team in kills (147).

Senior Erica Jellison, a social work major from Van Wert, Ohio, owns a 3.78 GPA. She ranks second on the BC career list with 2,524 assists and currently ranks fourth in the league in assists per game. She has passed the 1,000 mark on career digs with 1,063. She ranked fourth on the team last year in service aces with .39 aces per game and she leads the team with .41 aces per game this season.

Senior Mandy Pequignot is an elementary and special education major from DeGraff, Ohio, and carries a 3.69 GPA. She has been named first team all-conference, was named to three all tournament teams, and has been named the conference player of the week twice. She led the league in kills last season, ranks fifth at BC in career kills (1,090) and is already the leader in hitting percentage (.270). In addition, she has collected 149 career blocks and 61 career aces.
