Beavers top Manchester to improve to 2-1 in HCAC

The Bluffton College volleyball team defeated Manchester College 3-0 (30-28, 30-21, 30-22) on Oct. 8 in Founders Hall for the Beavers' second straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory.

Bluffton is now 2-1 in the HCAC and 10-16 overall to equal last years' overall win total.

Against Manchester, BC sophomore Courtney Tisher led the way with a career-high 16 kills, while junior Erin Cooper finished with 20 assists. Sophomore Erin Kreim collected 10 digs and sophomore Karah Weldy also collected 10 digs and four service aces.

Bluffton begins their three-state tour on Oct. 16 at Thomas More College (Ky.), followed by stops at Anderson University (Ind.) on Oct. 22 and then at the Calvin College (Mich.) Invitational on Oct. 25 and 26. The Beavers will return to Founders Hall on Oct. 29 for their final home match of the season as BC hosts Franklin College.

Weldy leads the conference in aces (.75 apg) and ranks 9th in digs (3.69 dpg), while also ranked in that statistics are Kreim, who ranks 5th (4.34 dpg) and sophomore Kelly Kettinger, who ranks 8th (3.75 dpg). Cooper's 5.32 assists per game rank 7th, while Tisher's .258 hitting percentage is 10th and Overmyer's .42 aces per game is 12th.

In the team rankings, Bluffton is currently second in the HCAC in both service aces (2.14 apg) and digs (21.11 dpg).
