Volleyball players give back

Volleyball coach Sara Wakefield knows how important it is for a team to have good chemistry and work well together.

Last Saturday, the volleyball team went to work at Village Park on County Line road in Bluffton. The team spent the day cleaning, painting, scrubbing and mulching. The most important lesson of the day, however, was working together as a team.

"We wanted to do our part to help the community," Wakefield said. "This is a good opportunity for the team to come together. To play volleyball is a privilege and I wanted the team to give back to the people who help support them."

The players mulched the trees around the park, painted and cleaned park benches, and did a much needed sweeping and cleaning out of the dugouts. The players were in good spirits and didn't mind doing the work.

"I'm very proud of the way the team worked today," Asst. coach Alisha Giessler said. "They all worked together and very hard to help make the park a much nicer place."

Bluffton opens the season August 29-30 playing in the Coca-Cola Quaker Classic at Earlham College. The team opens the home schedule Sept. 3 against rival Ohio Northern.
