Beavers fall to #12 ONU in thrilling five-game contest

BLUFFTON, OHIO - The Bluffton College volleyball team surprised many people Wednesday night as they went to the limit with the No. 12 ranked Ohio Northern. Ohio Northern improves to 4-1 on the year, with Bluffton falling to 2-3. Final match scores were 30-17 (ONU), 30-27 (BC), 30-22 (ONU), 30-25 (BC) and 15-13 (ONU).

The Beavers led and were tied with the Bears all five of there games to take it to the final match play game. Tonight also marks the first time this season any opponent has taken ONU to five games.

"We came out with goals in mind and played hard through the last point," Bluffton coach Sara Wakefield said. "I'm very excited with the momentum that we have this early in the season."

Courtney Tisher led the Beavers with 43 attacks. Kelly Kettinger posted 35 digs   and 52 serve receptions on the evening. Karah Weldy had two aces on the night.

Leading the Polar Bears was Karlee Kanuckel with 37 digs. Hannah Kanuckel posted 65 total attacks on the night.

Bluffton will be back in action this weekend at the Taylor FortWayne tournament.
