Bluffton wins one match on the week

The Bluffton University volleyball team (1-4) started out the 2004 campaign with a busy week.  The team played five matches last week, starting with an away game at Ohio Northern University on Wednesday and then traveling to Earlham College for the Coca Cola Quaker Classic on Friday and Saturday.  The Beavers lone win on the week came against Alverno College with losses to ONU, Goshen, Centre and Heidelberg.

Leading the Beavers offensively on the week was Junior Keri Kuhlman (Shelby/Shelby) with 145 attacks, 51 of which were kills.  Kuhlman also leads the team with 11 total blocks for the season.  Senior Courtney Tisher (Rittman/Rittman) added 119 attacks, 35 kills and eight blocks for the week.

Sophomore Brittany Schultz (Hudson, IN/Prairie Heights) posted 69 assists to lead the team and added five serving aces to her efforts. 

Senior Erin Kreim (New Washington/Buckeye Central) notched 54 digs and 17 kills.  Also making an impact for the Beavers is sophomore JamieShores (Waukegan, IL/Waukegan) with 53 digs and six serving aces on the season. 

Bluffton will host its first home game this Tuesday at home vs. Oberlin College.  Start time for the contest is 7 p.m. The team will be back in action this weekend at the Wooster Invitational. The Beavers will play Urbana and West Virginia State on Friday and Marietta on Saturday.
