BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team (11-12, 0-4) was defeated in four games by the upstart Transylvania Pioneers in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on October 14, 2005. Game scores were 30-18, 30-27, 28-30 and 30-28.

Bluffton traveled to Transylvania on Friday night and found a Pioneer team that has struggled recently in the HCAC ready to defend its home court. A slow Beaver start put Transylvania in the driver's seat as each of the final three games were decided by less than four points. Attacking errors proved to be the difference in the match as Bluffton struggled at the net during the first two games.

Sophomore RACHEL ALVAREZ (Convoy/Crestview) did everything for the Beavers, leading the team with 16 kills and 25 digs. Senior KERI KUHLMAN (Shelby/Shelby) knocked down 13 kills to go along with her 12 digs while sophomore KALLA AESCHLIMAN (Wauseon/Wauseon) also put up double-digit kills finishing with 14. Freshman libero CHELSEA WYSE(Archbold/Archbold) ended the match with 18 digs. Junior BRITTANY SHULTZ (Hudson, Ind./Prairie Heights) recorded a team-high 32 assists.

The Beavers will be back in action this Tuesday, October 18 when they host Anderson. The match is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
