Bluffton falls to Hanover in three games

HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team continued to struggle on the road as Hanover swept the Beavers in three straight games by scores of 30-18, 30-17 and 30-27 on Saturday, October 21, 2006. The loss dropped the Beavers to 9-19 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Conference with two HCAC contests and a tri-match at Earlham remaining on the schedule.

Junior RACHEL ALVAREZ (Convoy/Crestview) and freshman ANNA VIARS(Lebanon/Lebanon) paced the Bluffton hitters with seven kills apiece while freshman AUDRA COLEMAN (Lima/Central Catholic) hit at a .364 clip for the match. Coleman and JORDAN SCIFRES (Greenwood, Ind./Lutheran) led the way at the net with three block assists each.

Defensively, freshman libero BRITTANY ROTH (Findlay/Findlay) picked up 12 digs while senior setter BRITTANY SHULTZ (Hudson, Ind./Prairie Heights) finished the tilt with 20 assists, leaving her only eight shy of 2,000 for her career.

The Beavers hit .211 in the final game of the day with 13 kills and only five hitting errors.

Bluffton returns home to Founders Hall on Tuesday, October 24, where it will face Heartland Conference rival Manchester College at 7 p.m.
