Pickering named second team All-HCAC

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Freshman KAYLA PICKERING(Jamestown/Greenview) has been named second team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the 2007 season.

Pickering, a 5-7 outside hitter, was a force to be reckoned with in her first collegiate season for the Beavers. She smashed Bluffton's freshman record of 270 kills with 422 in 113 games. Her 422 kills placed her third in the Heartland Conference and eighth all-time for a single season at Bluffton.

 

In conference action, Pickering rifled an HCAC-high 133 kills for a 4.43 kills per game average which was second to HCAC Most Valuable Player Carly Meek from Hanover.

Showing her versatility in the back row, Pickering tallied 349 digs, only 131 behind sophomore libero BRITTANY ROTH(Findlay/Findlay). Pickering finished her freshman campaign with double-doubles in 16 of Bluffton's 31 contests and was named All-Tournament at Eastern Mennonite and Defiance to open the 2007 season.
