Beavers suffer 3-0 setback at Hanover

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team suffered its third straight Heartland Conference setback, all on the road, at Hanover on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. The Beavers struggled with errors throughout the match as the Panthers improved to 9-13 overall and 2-2 in the conference while Bluffton slipped to 11-8, with a 1-3 mark in the HCAC.

Freshmen hitters JENNA ESHLEMAN (Landisville, Penn./Hempfield) and CHRISTIANA SINDELAR (Napoleon) paced the Beavers with 10 kills each. Sindelar hit .207 for the match with two solo blocks. Junior middle hitter CRYSTAL AUGSBURGER(Bowling Green) stopped the Panthers with a solo and two block assists.

Junior libero BRITTANY ROTH (Findlay/Findlay) posted a team-high 24 digs, while SHAUNA ROWLAND (Bucyrus/Wynford) and ALLISON STREICHER (Continental) added 18 and 15, respectively. Rowland found her teammates for 31 assists, picking up her ninth double-double of the season in the process.

The Beavers struggled with Hanover's serving, committing 10 receiving errors. In addition, Bluffton finished with 14 serving errors and 21 attacking errors, giving Hanover 45 free points in just three sets.

Bluffton returns home for a tri-match with Goshen and EMU on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008. The contest vs. Goshen is slated to start at 12 p.m. in Founders Hall.
