Beavers sweep Cincinnati Christian for eight straight victory

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team started off the their three-match weekend with a victory at Cincinnati Christian University on Friday, October 23, 2009. With the non-conference win, the Beavers moved to 18-5 overall while staying 4-0 in the HCAC.

The Beaver offense was directed by junior SHAUNA ROWLAND(Bucyrus/Wynford) with 32 assists. She connected with sophomore JENNA ESHLEMAN (Landisville, Penn./Hempfield) who had 15 kills, senior MICHELE ROSEN (Harrison) with seven and junior KAYLA PICKERING (Jamestown/Greenview) who added seven as well. Rosen also tallied five assists in the win.

Defensively, Bluffton was led by senior libero BRITTANY ROTH(Findlay) who picked up 13 digs. She was followed by Rowland with 10 digs, Pickering and Eshleman both with eight, and junior ALLISON STREICHER (Continental) with four digs.

On Saturday, October 24, the Beavers travel to Lexington, Kentucky, where they take on the Pioneers of Transylvania University in a tri-match with Asbury College. Their first contest with HCAC foe Transylvania will begin at 12 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. start time against Asbury.
