Following their outstanding efforts on the court in the fall semester, several Beaver volleyball players have also been recognized for their work inside the classroom. As a team, the Beavers compiled a 3.1 GPA for the 2009 semester. Six players were placed on the Dean's List (attainable with a 3.6 GPA and above) and four other players had a GPA of 3.0 or higher, resulting in a total of ten players with a 3.0 GPA and above.

Seniors BRITTANY ROTH (Findlay) and MICHELE ROSEN(Harrison), juniors KAYLA PICKERING (Jamestown/Greenview) and BRIANA RAPP (West Jefferson/Jonathan Alder), and sophomores JENNA ESHLEMAN (Landisville, Penn./Hempfield) and COURTNEY ZIMMERMAN (Leesburg/Fairfield) were all named to the Dean's List.

In addition to the ladies who were named to the Dean's List, senior BRITTANY DUFF (Wapakoneta), junior SHAUNA ROWLAND(Bucyrus/Wynford), sophomore MANDI LEEMASTER (Fremont/Old Fort) and freshman BROOKE DISTEL (Carey) earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall semester.

Zimmerman, Roth, Eshleman, and Pickering were also honored by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for their endeavors in the classroom, as they were all named to the HCAC All-Academic team. To be named to the All-Academic team, the student athlete must be a varsity athlete of at least sophomore status who has obtained a cumulative 3.5 GPA of higher.

At the end of season banquet on January 10, four Beavers were honored with special team awards after voting by all team members. Garnering the Most Improved Award was sophomore Courtney Zimmerman who saw vast improvement as the 2009 season progressed. Junior Kayla Pickering was honored with the Unsung Hero Award for her many efforts and contributions that often go unnoticed. The Bucky Beaver Award, given to the athlete that displays intelligence, is hard-working and is determined to get the job done, was awarded to senior libero Brittany Roth. Finally, the team's Most Valuable Player was Shauna Rowland for her leadership and all-around stellar play during the 2009 season.
