Transy sweeps Beavers in Founders Hall

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Despite putting up a last minute fight late in the third set, the Bluffton University women's volleyball team fell to conference opponent Transylvania University in three sets, 27-25, 25-22, 25-23. With the loss the Beavers now sit at 16-6 overall and 3-2 in the HCAC while Transylvania moved to 18-6 and 3-1 in HCAC play.

Sophomore HEATHER SCHIERER (Crescent Springs, Ky./St. Henry) led all Bluffton attackers with 13 kills, while junior COURTNEY ZIMMERMAN (Leesburg/Fairfield) and senior ALLISON STREICHER (Continental) contributed nine and eight kills, respectively. Senior SHAUNA ROWLAND (Bucyrus/Wynford) dished out 34 assists, and Schierer served up three service aces.
 
The Beavers were led in the backcourt by Rowland who had nine digs. She was followed by Schierer with seven digs and MANDI LEEMASTER (Fremont/Old Fort) with five digs. Zimmerman led at the net as she put up one solo block and three block assists, while Streicher tallied three block assists.
 
Bluffton heads back out for another Founders Hall challenge Saturday afternoon when it hosts HCAC foe Hanover College. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
