Bluffton rallies for five-set win at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's volleyball team battled DePauw University in a five-set thriller Friday night as the Beavers took down the Tigers 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 16-25, 15-12. With the win, Bluffton improved to 21-6 overall, while DePauw slipped to 20-12 on the season.

Senior SHAUNA ROWLAND (Bucyrus/Wynford) directed the Beaver attack with 54 assists as she connected with a plethora of hitters in the effort. COURTNEY ZIMMERMAN(Leesburg/Fairfield) led all attackers with 12 kills, followed by the trifecta of NICOLE WOOD (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon), HEATHER RODMAN (Mansfield/Mansfield-Christian), and ALLISON STREICHER (Continental), all of whom slammed down 11 kills. HEATHER SCHIERER (Crescent Springs, Ky./St. Henry) rounded out the five double-digit spikers with 10 kills. From the service line, the Beavers rifled eight service aces, led by Rowland with three and Streicher and Schierer with two apiece.

Senior MANDI LEEMASTER (Fremont/Old Fort) paced the backcourt with 20 digs. Streicher also scooped up 13 digs and Rowland added 11 digs. Rodman was a defensive force at the net as she had three solo blocks and two block assists. Rowland contributed one solo block and three block assists.

The Beavers move on to Franklin College Saturday to compete in their final regular season contest. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
