Beavers wrap up regular season with sweep at Bluffton

FRANKLIN, Indiana - In their final regular season appearance, the Bluffton University women's volleyball team defeated Franklin College in three sets, 25-16, 25-15, 25-22. With the sweep, the Beavers improved to 22-6 overall and 7-2 in HCAC play, while the Grizzlies fell to 4-24 and 1-8 in the conference.

Junior Courtney Zimmerman (Leesburg/Fairfield) led all Beaver attackers with 10 kills and a .450 hitting percentage. She was followed by sophomore Heather Schierer (Crescent Springs, Ky./St. Henry) with eight kills and junior Nicole Wood (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) with four kills. Senior Shauna Rowland (Bucyrus/Wynford) dished out 33 assists in the victory.

Seniors Mandi Leemaster (Fremont/Old Fort) and Allison Streicher (Continental) paced Bluffton's defensive play as they had 10 digs apiece. Rowland contributed seven digs and junior Meghan Dodson (Tiffin/Calvert) chipped in with five digs. Schierer slammed down two service aces.

Bluffton begins HCAC tournament action Tuesday night as the #3 seed. The Beavers host #6 Rose-Hulman in Founders Hall with match time slated for 7 p.m.
