Heidelberg dominates Bluffton 3-0

TIFFIN, Ohio - Bluffton's match against the Student Princes of #8 Heidelberg on Tuesday, Oct. 4, was a hard fought one for the Beavers, who lost in three sets (25-14, 25-16, and 25-18). Heidelberg beat the Beavers in every point scoring category which set the home squad up for victory.

Leading the Beaver attack was senior JENNA ESHLEMAN(Landisville, Penn./Hempfield) with 10 kills followed by fellow seniors NICOLE WOOD (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) and COURTNEY ZIMMERMAN (Leesburg/Fairfield) with six and five, respectively. Sophomore KYLEIGH WHITSEL (Sheffield Lake/Brookside) earned 23 assists in the effort.

The defense was solid for Bluffton as junior libero HEATHER SCHIERER (Crescent Springs, Ky./St. Henry) led the team with 16 digs. Eshleman picked up nine digs along with six apiece by Wood and sophomore LINDSAY KROHN (Marysville, Ind./New Washington). Adding to the defensive effort for the Beavers were two block assists from both Eshleman and Zimmerman. Eshleman also fired three of the Beavers' four aces on the night.

Up next for the Beavers is HCAC rival Earlham at 1 p.m. followed by Mount Union at 5 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 8, in Founders Hall. The Beavers are now 12-8 on the season.
