McFarlin Named POTW

September 29, 2014

Bluffton University sophomore MacKenzie McFarlin (Ashland) was recently named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on offense for her work in the Sommer Center over the weekend.

McFarlin helped the Beavers to a 1-1 mark on the week, including a five-set win over Transylvania in Bluffton's HCAC opener, and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on offense for the second time in five weeks.

The outside hitter posted 20 kills in the win over Transylvania and ended the week with a total of 28 kills, three service aces and 12 digs. The Beavers also dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 6 ranked Wittenberg following the Transy win. McFarlin added eight putdowns in the loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

Bluffton (14-6, 1-0 HCAC) will travel to Earlham at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, for its only action of the week as the Beavers will be able to enjoy the Homecoming festivities this weekend.
