BLUFFTON, Ohio - Saturday's Heartland Conference match brought Hanover College to the Sommer Center for a hard-fought duel between the two teams. Two of the four sets went over 25 points and three of the four sets had a two-point differential with 35 tie scores and 13 lead changes throughout the entire match.

Unfortunately for the Beavers, they came up short in all three two-point sets as they lost their second conference match of the season (28-26, 17-25, 28-26, and 25-23). Bluffton fell to 17-8 overall and 4-2 in the Heartland Conference, while Hanover improved to 13-13 and 4-1 in the HCAC.

SARA ROTH (Findlay/Van Buren) handed out 47 assists for the match in which four different hitters had solid numbers for the Bluffton offense. The middles, JENNY BROWN (St. Marys/Memorial) and LAUREN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley), both hit over .300 by smacking 18 and eight kills, respectively. Brown's 18 kills equaled her career best for a single match. KENDRA PARMENTER (Grove City) and MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) also added to the offense with Parmenter's 14 throwdowns and McFarlin's 10.

Brown led the defense at the net with two solo blocks and three block assists. Libero SYDNEY MOHLER (Lima/Central Catholic) paced the backrow with 23 digs. ERIN HELMS (Arlington), Weisgarber, and Roth also added 13, 12, and 10 digs, respectively, for the Beavers.

Bluffton is home on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to face Manchester University at 7 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers!
