Parmenter named HCAC Player of the Week

October 27, 2014

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University junior Kendra Parmenter (Grove City) was recently named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on offense for her work in a pair of crucial conference matches last week.

She led the Beavers to a 2-0 record in conference play and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on offense. The junior outside hitter finished the week with 34 kills, averaging 4.86 kills per set, with a .324 hitting percentage as Bluffton beat Manchester and Rose-Hulman.

Parmenter put down 14 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Manchester and added a match-high 20 kills in Bluffton's 3-1 win over Rose-Hulman on Saturday. It marked the third time this season that an outside hitter for the Beavers has been named HCAC Player the Week. Sophomore MacKenzie McFarlin (Ashland) was honored twice in September.

Bluffton (19-8, 6-2 HCAC) will close out conference play at Defiance on Wednesday and will play in the Benedictine (Ill.) Tournament over the weekend. The Beavers have assured themselves of a top four finish in the Heartland Conference regular season and can finish as high as second place. Should Bluffton earn a #3 or #4 seed, they will host a quarterfinal match in the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Nov. 5 against the #5 or #6 seed. A second place finish would give the Beavers a first round bye and automatic berth in the tournament semi-finals which will be played on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Defiance.
