BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team responded to a 25-11 third set thrashing by dominating sets four and five for the victory over Denison University on a rare Thursday night battle in the Sommer Center. Bluffton improved to 9-8 on the season, while the Big Red slipped to 7-6 overall.

Junior Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) and freshman Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) lit up the outside with 18 kills apiece for the home team.  It marked a new career high for Bower! Jessie Gibson (Warsaw/River View) added seven kills and four blocks out of the middle. Junior floor general Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) doled out a season-high 47 assists for the victors while helping the front row with seven kills as well!

Senior libero Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic), who paced the Beavers with three aces, continued her quest for 2,000 digs with 23 pickups (1,924 career digs). Abby Rohrbach (New Knoxville) tallied 19 digs, while Wesigarber and Courtney Zimpfer (Jackson Center) chimed in with 13 and 10, respectively.

Bluffton has just one day to prepare for Heartland Conference nemesis Hanover College. The Beavers travel to Hanover for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Panthers on Saturday, Sept. 30, in the HCAC lidlifter for both teams.
