Anderson takes down Beavers in four sets

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's volleyball team hit the road for a mid-week matchup against Anderson University on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. Despite a hard fought match on both sides, the Ravens were able to hold off the Beavers in four sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-22, 26-24). Bluffton dropped to 4-17 (0-2 HCAC) on the season, while Anderson improved to 6-11 (1-1 HCAC).

Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) powered the Beaver offense with 18 kills and three blocks. Fellow junior Sarah Heydinger (Tiro/Buckeye Central) hammered home a career-high 17 winners of her own. Sophomore Maddie White (Ashland) also established a new career high, dishing out 38 assists for the visitors.

Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) ran the Bluffton defense with 12 digs apiece. Bower also chipped in 11 pickups for the visiting team. Weekley and White fired four and two service aces, respectively. The Weekley aces came on four consecutive serves in set four as Bluffton broke a 16-16 tie, taking a 20-16 lead.

The women are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they welcome #21 Transylvania University to Copeland Court as a part of the Bluffton Homecoming festivities. First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers!
