Beavers drop a pair of five-setters at Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team went the distance twice, but Hanover College claimed both clinchers on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021. Bluffton fell to 9-6 an 2-3 in the Heartland Conference, while the Panthers improved to 7-3 on the season.

Senior Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) led the visitors with a double-double in the lidlifter. She pounded 17 kills and picked up 12 digs. Bower stuffed the stat sheet with three blocks and three aces. Freshman Alysha Like (McComb) just missed double figures with nine kills and she stuffed the Panthers with six total blocks. Noel Ufferman (Marysville/Fairbanks) and Cassidy Posey (Paulding) chipped in with six kills apiece.

Sophomore signal-caller Elle Price (Findlay) doled out 36 assists and she came up just one dig shy of a double-double. Junior libero Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) paced the back row with 16 digs and she chipped in three aces. 

Match two again went the distance with Posey hammering home a career-high 16 kills for a .500 hitting percentage. Sophomore Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) got it done with nine kills in the nightcap.

Lindsey Shaw (Findlay/Van Buren) notched her first career double-double with a team-high 21 assists and 10 digs. Caitlyn Renner (Cairo/Bath) picked up 11 digs for the Beavers. Price and Renner both ripped three aces on Saturday evening.

Bluffton led each match 2-1 before Hanover rallied for the five-set victories on Saturday.

The Beavers return to the Sommer Center following three straight road trips on Wednesday, Feb. 10. First serve with Manchester is slated for 6 p.m.
