Denison drops Beavers in four sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team was back on its home court for a Wednesday night match with Denison University on September 15. It looked different, and it wasn't just that there were fans in the gym. The stands were on the other side of the floor! Denison used a .295 hitting percentage to dispatch the home squad in four sets.

The visitors looked ready to put it on ice quickly with 25-14 and 25-13 victories in the first two sets. Bluffton battled back to take the third set by a slim 25-23 margin before Denison claimed the clincher 25-20 for the 3-1 non-conference win.

Senior Cassidy Posey (Paulding) did her part with 11 kills and two blocks. Sophomore Alysha Like (McComb) and freshman Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) brought the hammer down eight times each, while juniors Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) and Maddie White (Ashland) added seven and six kills, respectively.

Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay) dished out 21 assists and White chimed in with 10 helpers. Senior Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) led the defense with 16 digs. White was in on four blocks, while sophomore Kelly Armentrout (Lima/Shawnee) and Like stuffed the Big Red with three blocks apiece. Barnett rifled four aces on Wednesday night.

Bluffton will travel to the College of Wooster for the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic on Friday, Sept. 17. The first match is slated for 3:30 p.m. against Roanoke College from Virginia.
