Beavers take down Thiel and EMU at Cedar Point

SANDUSKY, Ohio - The Bluffton University opened day two from Cedar Point with a three-set win over Thiel College from the Presidents Athletic Conference in Pennsylvania. Match two saw the Beavers dominate Eastern Mennonite University for their second sweep of the day (25-20, 25-21, 25-18).

Senior Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) was on fire, smashing nine kills against just one error for a .444 hitting percentage with a team-best five blocks. Sophomore Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) was nearly perfect, hammering six spikes without an error on nine swings! Freshman Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) and senior Alysha Like (McComb) tacked on seven and six kills, respectively. Freshman Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) chipped in with four blocks for the victors.

Maddie White (Ashland) stuffed the stat sheet with 19 assists, five kills and five digs, while her setting counterpart, Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay (Ohio), notched her first double double of the season with 13 assists and 12 digs. Freshman Mackenzie Jones (Oregon/Clay) picked up 12 digs and fired a team-best three aces. Organ finished with nine pickups and seven kills.

Woods had the hot hand in Bluffton's sweep of Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon. She hit .500 with seven kills. Like was equally impressive with nine putaways and five blocks. Jones and Organ rifled three aces apiece to pace the western Mennonites.

White and Price doled out 17 and 10 assists, respectively. Senior Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) was all over the floor with 13 digs, while White just missed out on a double-double with nine pickups.

Bluffton will look to avenge the football team's season-opening loss at Kenyon when the Beavers travel to Gambier for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Ladies on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
