Bluffton drops two on day two of Spiketacular

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's volleyball team fell to Baldwin Wallace (3-1) and John Carroll (3-1) on day two of the Spiketacular on Saturday, Sept. 10. Bluffton slipped to 5-3 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 4-2 and the Blue Streaks moved to 5-2. 

Alysha Like (McComb) and Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) both rammed home 11 winners in the Saturday lidlifter. Like was all over it with just one error on 20 swings for a blistering .500 hitting percentage. Senior Maddie White (Ashland) dished out 19 assists, while freshman Mackenzie Jones (Oregon/Clay) fired three aces.

Jones also led the home team with 12 digs. Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) just missed double figures with nine pickups against the Yellow Jackets.

Barnett and Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) powered the Bluffton offense in match two with 10 and nine hammers, respectively. Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) and Like both smashed eight kills in the loss. White dished out an impressive 29 assists while also tallying six kills and 11 pickups. 

Jones added another 11 digs to her stat line with Organ just off her pace with nine. Jones and Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) both fired two aces against the Blue Streaks.

Senior Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay) eclipsed 1,000 career assists with her 10 helpers on Saturday!

Like was named to All-Tournament Team after hitting .268 with 31 kills and six blocks over the weekend. She also served up two aces at the Spiketacular

The women take the court again on Wednesday, Sept. 14, when they welcome Ohio Northern to Copeland Court. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. Go Beavers!
