Bluffton falls to Concordia Chicago and Alma

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at Manchester University on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. Concordia Chicago swept the Beavers in the 11 a.m. lidlifter before Alma downed Bluffton 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Bekah Pack (Lexington), who was named to Manchester All-Tournament Team, led the way with seven kills against Concordia, hitting .313 to go along with a career-high six blocks! Freshman Mallory Fluharty (Wooster/Triway) dished out 22 assists, while sophomore Emma Organ (Lambertville, Mich./St. Ursula) picked up 10 digs. Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) added six kills and six blocks.

Bluffton opened its second match of the day with a 25-22 victory over Alma College. Organ served nine consecutive times, including three service aces in set one. The Scots responded with three straight wins, downing Bluffton 20-19-20.

Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) and Jenna Woods both got it done at the net with 13 winners. Senior Kelly Armentrout (Lima/Shawnee) chipped in with eight kills. Fluharty handed out 37 helpers for the Beavers.

Organ stuffed the stat sheet with 23 digs and three service aces. Freshman Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanicsburg) picked up 11 digs, while Pack and Kasey Sager (Troy) added three blocks apiece.

Bluffton is back on the road Wednesday night when the Beavers travel to Franklin College for the Heartland Conference opener. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m.
